Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy has undergone recent funding changes through the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care and is now being directly funded to the Long Term Care Home. All Residents upon admission are assessed by a registered Physiotherapist. Based on the assessed needs and abilities Residents can participate in organized exercise programs and 1 to 1 physiotherapy treatments approximately twice per week.
Department staff and a qualified physiotherapist assess mobility status of all Residents upon admission and on a regular basis thereafter. A detailed and continuing treatment program is developed for Residents in need of therapy.
Physiotherapy provides such treatments as strengthening exercises, hot packs, TENS, and Range of Motion (ROM) exercises.
Our therapy program room is well equipped with the latest in rehabilitation equipment for seniors including a New Step recumbent trainer, NeuroGym Sit to Stand Trainer, parallel bars and therapy stair climber trainer. The Stroke Program for those Residents recovering from stroke has been very well received by Residents participating.
Our Physiotherapist provides training on restorative rehab nursing and safe lifting procedures for front line staff.
