Volunteers

Volunteers are an essential part of the IOOF Seniors Homes operation and we are always looking for new volunteers to join our team. As a member of our volunteer team you will experience an environment that is stimulating, challenging and rewarding.

Volunteers of all ages are a much esteemed group at the IOOF Seniors Homes, providing loving support to our Residents. Committed, qualified and enthusiastic individuals work together and play an integral part in delivering quality programming and services to our Residents.

Volunteers are carefully screened, trained and oriented and are provided with meaningful and fulfilling assignments that enhance the life of our Seniors. Students 15+ are welcome.

Many Heritage Place, Manor & Terraces Residents choose to stay involved by becoming volunteers. Meaningful placements are offered in the areas of fundraising, activities and programs, Last Minute Store, Tuck Shop, office help, friendly visits, meal time assistance, Resident care and more.

IOOF Seniors Homes uphold a number of key principles and values that are shared by all staff and volunteers, specifically:

  • Confidentiality: We value mutual trust and respect for confidentiality by and for all Residents, staff and volunteers.

  • Respect: Volunteers have the right to freedom of expression, and we are sensitive to their diverse beliefs and values.

  • Communication: We nurture a spirit of collaboration with all members of the interdisciplinary team, and through ongoing communication, promote the involvement of volunteers in the home’s decision-making processes.

  • Innovation and recognition: We support an environment that encourages volunteer excellence, initiative and innovation, and we recognize the value of volunteer contributions.

  • Learning and personal growth: We provide opportunities for learning and personal growth for volunteers, and promote the empowerment of volunteer services.

  • Responsiveness and adaptability: We monitor and respond to the changing needs of volunteer services, to meet the needs of our Residents.
